Starting 23rd August 2024, Akasa Air will operate daily direct flights between Kuwait City and Mumbai, in response to the demand for enhanced and affordable connectivity on the route. 

Bookings for flights are now open on Akasa Air’s website, the Android and iOS app and through multiple leading OTAs.

The service will add significant passenger and cargo capacity to the route and will capture the perennial demand for VFR and business travel between India and Kuwait.

“The addition of Kuwait adds further breadth to our international network, strengthening our position as a key player in connecting India and the Middle East. Kuwait and India have historically shared strong bilateral ties, and the launch of a direct service connecting these two major cities will open more avenues for trade and tourism between the two countries,” said Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air.

Akasa Air currently connects with 22 domestic and five international cities, namely Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Lucknow, Goa, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Port Blair, Ayodhya, Gwalior, Srinagar, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Doha (Qatar), Jeddah, Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Kuwait. 

“International travel can get hectic, and passengers on board Akasa Air can look forward to a relaxing and convenient flying experience with our spacious cabins, provision of in-seat charging with USB ports on most of our aircraft, and our QuietFlights initiative that aims to ensure a restful flight,” Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing and Experience Officer, Akasa Air. 

The carrier launched its first commercial flight on 07 August 2022 to support the growing demand across India and commenced international operations on 28 March 2024, offering non-stop flights from Mumbai to Doha.

With a clear focus on sustained, long-term growth, Akasa Air has placed a firm order of 226 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes, powered by CFM fuel-efficient, LEAP-1B engines. It currently operates 24 737 MAX aircraft which delivers superior efficiency in reducing fuel use and carbon emissions, the press release stated.
