Akasa Air closes strategic investment round, onboards new partners

The airline now counts Premji Invest, 360 ONE Asset, and the family office of Ranjan Pai among its backers.

New Delhi: Akasa Air has successfully completed its strategic investment round initially announced in February 2025, securing robust support from new investors and strengthening its financial foundation.

The airline now counts Premji Invest, 360 ONE Asset, and the family office of Ranjan Pai among its backers. In addition, the Jhunjhunwala family, long-standing investors in the airline, have contributed further capital, the news report said.

The total funding amount is estimated at approximately ₹1,200 crore (roughly $125 million).

This infusion of capital comes as a critical endorsement of investor confidence in Akasa Air’s business model and long-term growth strategy, underscoring its commitment to sustainable expansion.

A spokesperson for the airline emphasized that the funding will fuel planned expansion of operations, including both domestic and international routes, while also enhancing key focus areas such as customer experience, safety, technology, and overall reliability.

CEO Vinay Dube described these investments as “not just financial transactions,” but as essential contributions to Akasa Air’s vision of building an airline for generations.

CFO Ankur Goel underscored that the capital will ensure long-term financial stability, reinforcing the airline’s readiness for growth and unforeseen challenges.

Founded in 2022, Akasa Air has quickly emerged as India’s third-largest airline. With this successful funding round, it is better positioned to scale operations and pursue its ambition to rank among the top 30 global carriers by 2030.
