Atlantic Aviation is strategically preparing for the operations of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft across various locations in its U.S. Fixed Base Operators (FBOs) network. This week, the company announced partnership agreements with competing manufacturers Joby and Archer. As part of these collaborations, Atlantic Aviation will incorporate electric recharging infrastructure from both Joby and Archer at its sites. The partnerships will also involve collaborative efforts to explore the necessary preparations for the anticipated launch of eVTOL air taxi services in 2025.Archer recently confirmed the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Atlantic Aviation, outlining plans for vertiport infrastructure provision at airports in the New York City and Los Angeles metropolitan areas, as well as in San Francisco and Miami. Simultaneously, Atlantic Aviation announced a parallel agreement with Joby, detailing the installation of Joby’s global electric aviation charging system at several FBOs, commencing in New York and Southern California. The charging system to be implemented in collaboration with Archer is the Combined Charging System, developed by Beta Technologies, a company concurrently working on its own eVTOL. Although these systems are designed for use with various aircraft types, the recent agreements did not specify the party responsible for covering the equipment costs.
