Bahrain launches National Aviation Strategy

Major strategic partnerships to support route development, operational growth, and accelerate private sector opportunity

The Kingdom of Bahrain announced new strategic aviation partnerships and route growth alongside the launch of its National Aviation Strategy (2026–2027), a market-driven roadmap designed to accelerate private sector opportunity and regional connectivity.

H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister for Transport and Telecommunications of Bahrain, formally unveiled the National Aviation Strategy under the banner “Building bridges to the world and for the world”. Announcing the strategy, the minister emphasised that Bahrain’s aviation transformation is anchored in opportunity, competitiveness, and private sector collaboration.

Central to the announcement was the signing of letters of intent with BeOnd Airline,a premium leisure airline, and The Helicopter Company, to establish a helicopter route between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the city of Dammam. The agreements are expected to strengthen commercial and private aviation services, support route development, and expand specialized aviation operations, further enhancing Bahrain’s regional reach.

Momentum continues from an earlier announcement from AirAsia, which named Bahrain as its Middle East strategic hub. Overall, Bahrain’s partnership announcements and national aviation strategy mark a decisive step toward building a high-growth aviation platform where airlines, investors and operators can expand.
