India’s newest domestic airline, Fly91 aims to alleviate congestion for international transit passengers

Fly91, India’s latest domestic airline, is set to commence commercial passenger flights starting March 18, aiming to facilitate smoother connections for incoming tourists and visitors across various Indian cities.

This week, Jyotiraditya Scindia, India’s Minister for Civil Aviation, formally inaugurated Fly91 by marking its symbolic inaugural flight between Goa, a popular tourist destination, and Lakshadweep, a cluster of pristine islands off the coast of Kerala.Starting from the following Monday, scheduled flights will operate between Goa and Hyderabad, as well as Goa and Bangalore, with return flights on these routes also commencing from March 18. Additionally, passenger flights linking the scenic coastal town of Sindhudurg in Maharashtra to Bangalore and Hyderabad are set to commence next week.Scindia expressed the government’s aim to enhance air connectivity to smaller tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India, anticipating a surge in domestic passenger traffic to 300 million passengers by 2030, compared to 60 million passengers a decade ago. Fly91 is poised to accommodate such growth, with plans to gradually expand its services to cities like Pune, Jalgaon, and Naded. This expansion is expected to alleviate seat constraints, particularly during holiday seasons and peak tourist periods.
