Dubai: Dubai International Airport has unveiled the “Red Carpet” corridor, an advanced AI and biometric-based system designed to accelerate passport control.

Developed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in partnership with Dubai Airports, the initiative marks a global first in automated border processing.

The corridor enables passengers to clear immigration seamlessly without presenting travel documents, while exceptional cases are diverted for manual verification to uphold strict security protocols.

Capable of handling up to 10 travelers in just 6 to 14 seconds, the system is a major upgrade over traditional checks, which process passengers individually. This innovation significantly cuts waiting times and boosts overall passenger capacity.

The rollout of the “Red Carpet” corridor aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of enhancing smart travel experiences and reinforces Dubai International Airport’s standing as the world’s busiest hub for international passengers for the 11th year in a row.
