Once operational, this airport will be India’s first net-zero emissions airport, incorporating sustainable design, energy-efficient systems, and smart terminal management tech.
Noida International Airport to begin operations after Diwali

Noida: The much-anticipated Noida International Airport (NIA) is set to commence operations shortly after Diwali this year, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure.
A report stated, officials overseeing the project have confirmed that construction is nearing completion, and the airport is expected to be ready for commercial flights in the weeks following the Diwali festival, which falls on November 1 this year.
The launch is expected to significantly reduce congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and boost regional connectivity in Uttar Pradesh and northern India.
Developed by Zurich Airport International AG, Noida International Airport is being constructed in phases. The first phase, upon completion, will include one runway and a terminal designed to handle up to 12 million passengers annually. Future expansion plans aim to accommodate over 70 million passengers per year, making it one of the largest airports in India.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has frequently reviewed the progress of the project and emphasized the airport’s role in driving economic growth, creating employment, and positioning Noida and Greater Noida as key commercial hubs.
“The airport will serve as a logistics gateway for North India and enhance connectivity for cities like Agra, Mathura, and Aligarh,” a senior official from Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) stated.
Airlines are expected to begin test runs and operational trials in October to ensure readiness before official flight operations commence. The initial routes will likely include domestic flights to major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
Once operational, Noida International Airport will be India’s first net-zero emissions airport, incorporating sustainable design, energy-efficient systems, and smart terminal management technologies.
