Revamped Terminal 2 of IGI Airport to resume operations from October

The reopening of T2 will help bolster IGIA’s capacity and ease the load on Terminals 1 and 3.

New Delhi: The upgraded Terminal 2 (T2) of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) will resume full operations starting October 26, 2025, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has announced, according to a news report

The reopening aligns with the start of the winter flight schedule and follows a comprehensive five‑month closure to carry out major upgrades.

Originally built by the Airports Authority of India about 40 years ago, Terminal 2 was shut in April this year once Terminal 1 became fully functional.

From the intervening night of October 25‑26, approximately 120 daily domestic flights, primarily by Air India and IndiGo, will be shifted to the revamped T2.

The revamped terminal features a host of passenger‑friendly enhancements: a Self Baggage Drop (SBD) facility allowing travellers to tag and drop their own luggage; six new passenger boarding bridges with autonomous docking technology; modern ceilings, skylights and upgraded flooring; improved flight information display systems; and enhanced mechanical, electrical and safety systems— including upgraded HVAC and fire safety infrastructure.

According to DIAL, the reopening of T2 will help bolster IGIA’s capacity and ease the load on Terminals 1 and 3 as passenger volume rises during the winter travel period.
