Australia renews smart gate technology partnership with Amadeus

Sydney: Australia’s Department of Home Affairs has renewed its long-standing collaboration with Amadeus and its subsidiary, Vision-Box Australia, to continue supporting the Departure SmartGates program at ten of the country’s international airports.
The extended, multi-year agreement will enhance the existing infrastructure and keep pace with evolving border control technologies, according to a recent announcement.
Under the terms of the agreement, the current Departure SmartGates system will undergo a “mid-life” upgrade to improve performance and extend the lifecycle of existing assets. This upgrade will also see the integration of the latest Amadeus Visiontec facial recognition software, which includes advanced biometric algorithms to ensure greater accuracy and security.
Amadeus, through Vision-Box Australia, has been supplying SmartGate solutions to the Australian government since the launch of the program in 2015. The continued partnership reflects the Department of Home Affairs’ commitment to maintaining efficient, technology-driven border processing systems while offering a smoother experience for departing passengers.
The refreshed infrastructure is designed to align with modern platforms and technological standards, ensuring Australia’s border control remains future-ready and effective, the news report stated.
