In a recent press release by SITA, the leading technology provider for the air transport industry, it was announced that they have acquired ASISTIM, a renowned company specializing in airline flight operations services. This strategic move marks SITA’s entry into the operations as-a-service market, aimed at assisting airlines of all sizes in enhancing efficiency and scalability. By integrating ASISTIM’s expertise, SITA aims to level the playing field in the challenging and high-volume aviation industry, where operational excellence is crucial.

The acquisition strengthens SITA’s role as a premier partner for ambitious airlines, offering comprehensive solutions tailored to varying operational needs and passenger volumes. By centralizing airline Operations Control Center (OCC) services through ASISTIM’s capabilities, SITA now provides robust support for multiple customers simultaneously. This enhancement allows airlines to mitigate challenges such as staffing shortages and rising costs, leveraging advanced technology and experienced personnel typically accessible to larger operators.

David Lavorel, CEO of SITA, emphasized the significance of the acquisition, stating, “Acquiring ASISTIM is a pivotal step in our Managed Services portfolio journey. It underscores our commitment to empowering airlines with the best-in-class OCC services, enabling seamless daily operations and scalability for all sizes of carriers.” The collaboration aims to integrate ASISTIM’s operational insights into SITA’s software development, further advancing their capabilities and reinforcing their position as a leading OCC service provider in the air transport industry.

Founded 15 years ago, ASISTIM has distinguished itself with its innovative triad of OCC, IT, and training academy services. Patrick Rossman, ASISTIM’s Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, noting, “Joining forces with SITA represents a significant milestone. Together, we are poised to drive industry change, setting new standards and delivering enhanced value to airline operations through our combined expertise and capabilities.”
