Thales unveils new avionics MRO facility in Gurugram

The inauguration event was attended by India’s Minister of Civil Aviation along with the Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in India.

Gurugram: Thales has officially launched its latest maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility for avionics in Gurugram, India, further strengthening its commitment to the country’s growing aviation sector.

This newly established centre is designed to provide comprehensive maintenance and repair services for avionics components, catering to leading Indian airlines such as Air India and IndiGo. 

The inauguration event was attended by Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, India’s Honourable Minister of Civil Aviation, along with Damien Syed, Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in India. Several senior government representatives and distinguished members from both the French diplomatic mission and the aviation industry were also present.

Among the key figures representing Thales at the event were Yannick Assouad, Executive Vice President of Avionics; Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services; and Gilles Bono, Vice President for India. The inauguration marks another milestone in Thales’s continued investments to support India’s expanding aviation landscape.

Expressing his appreciation for the initiative, Minister Naidu praised Thales for establishing a dedicated MRO facility in India, highlighting its role in enhancing local capabilities. Following a tour of the site, he acknowledged the advanced planning and innovation behind the centre. 

He emphasized that the new facility represents a major step forward for India’s aviation sector and aligns with the nation’s broader goal of self-reliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He also noted the importance of Indo-French collaboration in leveraging India’s talent and supporting the aviation market’s rapid growth.

Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales, emphasized the increasing significance of India’s MRO sector, describing the country as an emerging hub for airline maintenance solutions. He highlighted that the new Gurugram facility underscores Thales’s strategy to localize its operations, bringing its advanced avionics repair expertise closer to Indian airline customers. 

The centre benefits from the company’s extensive global support network, reinforcing Thales’s long-term commitment to expanding its footprint in India.
