Bombardier lands at Al Bateen with new high-tech service hub

Abu Dhabi: Bombardier has announced plans to open a new service center at Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, further expanding its global maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) network.
The facility marks a strengthened partnership with Abu Dhabi Airports, highlighting both organizations’ dedication to aviation excellence.
“This new facility further builds on Bombardier’s existing service footprint in the region. Bombardier also has a Line Maintenance Station at the Al Maktoum International Airport which provides Global, Challenger and Learjet customers with fast, efficient Aircraft on Ground (AOG) service capabilities, as well as general line maintenance capabilities. The facility will continue to enhance our presence in the region, providing customers with fast, efficient service and support options,” said Zeshan Malik, Vice President, Corporate Development & Aftermarket Program Management, Bombardier Inc.
This new site replaces Bombardier’s previously announced location at Abu Dhabi International Airport in 2022 and underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing customer service in the region. Al Bateen Executive Airport, a dedicated business aviation hub, offers a more strategic fit for the evolving needs of Bombardier’s clientele.
Once fully operational, the new OEM facility is expected to generate around 100 aerospace jobs in Abu Dhabi, reinforcing the company’s presence in this critical aviation market. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025, with completion and service readiness targeted for the second half of 2026.
“Hiring the best talent is a priority at all of Bombardier’s facilities around the world. The Bombardier team will leverage the knowledge it has acquired through its various expansions globally to build the required talent pipeline. Among other things, Bombardier has in the past worked with local schools to create apprenticeship programs to bring the additional workforce to the team,” Malik added.
Spanning approximately 120,000 square feet, the new service center will include a 55,000-square-foot hangar, a dedicated parts depot, and a full range of MRO services, including scheduled and unscheduled heavy maintenance, aircraft modifications, and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support.
Many of Bombardier’s customers in the Middle East have long and ultra-long-range aircraft, the new service centre will be well positioned to provide these customers with the support they need for their specific missions.
Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, added: “We’re proud to welcome Bombardier’s facility to Al Bateen Executive Airport. This move reflects our shared focus on business aviation and underscores our role as a key player in the global aviation sector. This partnership will not only enhance customer service but also support economic growth in the region.”
