dnata awarded IATA’s certification for environmental management
This recognition is a testament to dnata’s steadfast dedication to sustainability throughout its diverse range of businesses in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) program has been designed to independently evaluate the commitment of various aviation stakeholders, including airlines, airports, cargo handling facilities, freight forwarders, and ramp handlers, in their ongoing efforts to enhance environmental and sustainability performance.
In a comprehensive evaluation conducted by IATA, dnata underwent rigorous scrutiny, encompassing all 74 mandatory modules and the three optional ones. This extensive assessment evaluated dnata’s sustainability initiatives and endeavors across its extensive operations in the UAE. Beyond its corporate headquarters, ground handling and cargo divisions, dnata’s airport hospitality brand, marhaba, and its inflight catering joint venture, Alpha Flight Services (Alpha), were also certified through IEnvA’s hospitality module. Additionally, dnata’s baggage technology and logistics company, DUBZ, received the same certification. This remarkable achievement underscores dnata’s steadfast commitment to upholding the highest sustainability standards.
Steve Allen, CEO of dnata Group, expressed his pride in being the first integrated air services provider in the UAE to attain full IEnvA certification. He highlighted the dedication of his team to sustainability and responsible business practices across all operations. Allen emphasized that dnata would continue investing in its people, infrastructure, and equipment to maximize environmental efficiency while consistently delivering top-notch services to customers and travelers in the UAE and beyond.
Marie Owens Thomsen, IATA’s Senior Vice President for Sustainability and Chief Economist, extended her heartfelt congratulations to dnata for achieving complete IEnvA certification in the UAE. She recognized this accomplishment as a remarkable testament to their unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices. Thomsen commended the collective efforts of everyone involved and wished dnata ongoing success in their role in advancing the industry’s sustainability journey.
