Dubai Airports sets record with 46 million passengers in H1 2025

DXB currently offers connectivity to over 269 destinations across 107 countries via more than 92 international carriers.

Dubai: Dubai International Airport (DXB) has logged its most successful first half ever, handling 46 million passengers in the first six months of 2025. The remarkable figures come despite operational headwinds caused by regional geopolitical tensions.

According to data released by Dubai Airports on Tuesday, DXB experienced a 2.3% rise in passenger traffic compared to the same period in 2024, reinforcing its status as the world’s busiest airport for international travel. January emerged as the highest-traffic month on record, with 8.5 million passengers transiting through the airport — the most in any single month to date.

During Q2 alone, the airport welcomed 22.5 million passengers, up 3.1% from the second quarter of the previous year. April marked another high point, recording the airport’s busiest April ever with 8 million travellers.

Resilience amid regional challenges

Despite facing operational disruptions due to regional unrest, particularly the 11-day Iran-Israel conflict in May and June which led to temporary airspace closures across several Gulf countries, DXB sustained momentum and continued to deliver strong numbers.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, credited the airport’s resilience to its agile operations and strong team coordination. “DXB’s performance through a turbulent period is a testament to the UAE’s stability and our unified operational strategy under the oneDXB approach,” he said. “We successfully managed disruptions while maintaining an elevated customer experience and uninterrupted global connectivity.”

Streamlined operations and global reach

The airport continues to set benchmarks not only in traffic but also in operational efficiency:

  • 99.2% of passengers cleared departure immigration in under 10 minutes
  • 98.4% passed through arrivals in less than 15 minutes
  • 98.7% moved through security screening in under 5 minutes

DXB currently offers connectivity to over 269 destinations across 107 countries via more than 92 international carriers.

Looking ahead

The airport is on course to handle around 96 million passengers by the end of 2025, inching closer to the landmark 100 million figure. With major events on the horizon, including the much-anticipated Dubai Airshow 2025, travel activity is projected to surge in the upcoming winter season, bolstered by a packed calendar of sports, business, and cultural events.
