Emirates Post Group (EPG) and Dronamics, a pioneering cargo drone airline and technology innovator in the cargo drone space, have inked a Letter of Intent (LoI) to explore groundbreaking logistics solutions using advanced cargo drone capabilities in the UAE.

This LoI was signed at the official launch of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) Cluster in Abu Dhabi, heralding the commencement of an exciting partnership poised to redefine cargo drone delivery in the United Arab Emirates. SAVI aims to establish itself as a global hub for smart and autonomous vehicles, encompassing air, land, and sea, attracting key players like OEMs, startups, researchers, and top talent.

As per the agreement outlined in the LoI, EPG will delve into the possibilities and pilot Dronamics’ cargo drone service to facilitate same-day middle-mile and long-range deliveries. Both entities will collaborate in crafting a comprehensive cargo drone delivery network in the UAE and GCC. Upon a successful pilot phase, EPG plans to integrate this innovative technology into its logistics network, eventually extending access to the wider logistics industry. Additionally, EPG envisions itself as a launch partner for the prospective Dronamics UAE Joint Venture, which will aid in expanding cargo drone operations across the region.

Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, Group CEO of Emirates Post Group, articulated the shared vision, stating: “EPG and Dronamics are united in their commitment to reshape the logistics sector, with a focus on enhancing cargo delivery speed, sustainability, and efficiency through cutting-edge drone technology. This partnership represents a significant milestone in the advancement of autonomous cargo drone transportation.”

Dronamics, renowned for its pioneering work in the cargo drone industry, has conducted successful tests of its state-of-the-art drones, underscoring their potential across various industries. The company’s vertical integration approach, spanning drone design, construction, operation, and the creation of Droneports, positions it as a formidable force capable of revolutionizing the same-day logistics sector.

Svilen Rangelov, CEO and Co-Founder of Dronamics, highlighted the significance of partnering with Emirates Post Group and their expansion to the Middle East, specifically the United Arab Emirates. He emphasized, “Through this agreement, we aim to implement our unique middle-mile cargo drone technology in the UAE market to serve EPG, its customers, and its universal service mandate—a pivotal step in achieving our vision of enabling same-day delivery for everyone, everywhere.”

As part of this LoI, Emirates Post Group will facilitate Dronamics, using its postal and express business managed by Emirates Post, to conduct Proof-of-Concept (POC) flights in the UAE with at least one drone aircraft by 2024. This strategic partnership with Dronamics and its advanced technologies will bolster EPG’s endeavors in enhancing the overall delivery supply chain of logistics operations in the UAE.

In alignment with the UAE’s unwavering commitment to fostering drone and autonomous technology development, this collaboration exemplifies a dedication to driving innovation within the logistics sector while championing a sustainable future. The launch of SAVI in Abu Dhabi serves as a powerful testament to the nation’s dedication, echoing global initiatives aimed at significantly reducing emissions and propelling the world towards a more sustainable tomorrow.
