NMIA to be inaugurated in June, confirmed Gautam Adani

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to be inaugurated in June, according to an announcement by Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday. The airport was initially scheduled to open on April 17, but the launch date has been revised.
Developed by Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL), this greenfield airport will be the second major aviation hub in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, following Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
The project is a joint venture between Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), with a 74:26 partnership.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the airport in February 2018. The project, estimated to cost ₹16,700 crore, aims to alleviate congestion at Mumbai’s main airport and accommodate the increasing demand for air travel in India.
Adani shared an update on X, calling the airport a “glimpse into India’s aviation future” and highlighting its role in enhancing connectivity and economic growth. He also praised the Adani Airports team and its partners for their contributions to the project.
Previously, in December 2023, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd CEO Arun Bansal had mentioned that the commercial opening was originally planned for April 17. Domestic flights were expected to begin in the latter half of May, with international operations commencing by late July.
Designed with two runways and four terminals, the Navi Mumbai International Airport is projected to accommodate 90 million passengers annually upon completion of all five development phases.
