Noida Airport to launch in Nov 2025, domestic, cargo services set for Sept start

The Jewar-based greenfield airport is being constructed in four phases, with an overall investment of ₹29,650 crore.

New Delhi: Noida International Airport is now expected to begin domestic and cargo flight operations in September 2025, with international services scheduled to follow by November of the same year.

The revised timeline was shared on Saturday by Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, marking the third adjustment to the airport’s inauguration schedule, according to a news report.

Originally targeted for a September 29, 2024 opening, the airport’s debut was first deferred to April 2025 and then to June 30, due largely to pandemic-induced construction delays. The first phase of the project, now nearing completion, is designed to handle 12 million passengers per year.

“Work progress has been assessed, and the airport will be fully operational by November,” Gupta stated during his two-day inspection tour of Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region. He praised the development, highlighting that the Jewar Airport is poised to become Asia’s largest and the fourth-largest airport globally upon completion.

Spanning four development phases, Noida International Airport is receiving a total investment of ₹29,650 crore. Phase one alone, which has a budget of ₹10,056 crore, will include a single runway and a terminal building capable of accommodating 12 million passengers annually. The full project, expected to be completed by 2040, aims to serve up to 70 million passengers each year.

During his review, Minister Gupta also evaluated a range of other infrastructure projects valued at ₹45,148 crore, projected to create approximately 1.32 lakh jobs.

Key initiatives under discussion included the development of a modern hospital near the airport, along with proposals for a Film City, Fintech City, toy manufacturing zone, furniture hub, apparel park, and an MSME cluster.
