Punjab Governor pushes for better air connectivity from Chandigarh Airport

Chandigarh: In a proactive move to boost regional connectivity, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Shri Gulab Chand Kataria met with Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi to advocate for improved air services from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport.
During the discussion, the Governor emphasized the growing demand for enhanced domestic and international air links, particularly from residents of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He reiterated the airport’s strategic importance as a key aviation hub for North India.
According to a news report, Kataria highlighted that direct international flights could play a crucial role in unlocking the region’s tourism potential, facilitating smoother business travel, and supporting broader economic growth.
Responding positively, the Union Minister assured full support from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, stating that efforts would be made to explore new opportunities and engage with airlines and airport authorities to strengthen connectivity and improve passenger services at the airport.
The meeting signaled a forward-looking approach to advancing Chandigarh’s aviation landscape and enhancing its accessibility both within India and globally.
