Saudia partners with Panasonic Avionics to enhance inflight entertainment

From 2026, an advanced hosted server platform will be introduced on 18 of Saudia’s B787-9s and 21 B787-10s.

Riyadh: Saudia, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to introduce its advanced hosted server platform, Converix, on its B787s and its upcoming A321XLR aircraft.

This partnership aims to elevate the inflight experience for guests by providing faster and more reliable content delivery.

Starting 2026, Saudia will implement this innovative technology on 18 of its B787-9s and 21 B787-10s. As the first airline globally to adopt this technology, Saudia is setting a new benchmark in inflight entertainment.

Saudia guests can look forward to enjoying quicker access to movies, shows, and live TV streaming without interruptions. The platform will enable smoother streaming experiences and provide more personalized content options tailored specifically for each guest.

This upgrade also allows Saudia to manage onboard services more efficiently while opening possibilities for introducing new features in the future.

This agreement aligns with Saudia’s largest investment in enhancing the guest experience, with a focus on developing innovative products and services that ensure a premium travel journey.

As part of this effort, Saudia previously signed an agreement with Panasonic Avionics to introduce Astrova—an in-flight entertainment (IFE) seat-end solution featuring 4K OLED screens—which will be installed during the upcoming retrofit of its A330 and B777 aircraft later this year.

Rossen Dimitrov, Chief Guest Experience Officer at Saudia, commented, “Converix represents a major leap forward in how we think about inflight connectivity and personalization. At Saudia, our guest experience transformation is grounded in innovation, and this partnership with Panasonic Avionics brings us closer to a seamless, digitally rich journey for every guest. This platform allows us to shape and scale onboard services like never before, giving us the agility to meet evolving expectations with precision and speed.”

Ken Sain, Chief Executive Officer of Panasonic Avionics, says, “We are thrilled that Saudia has become the launch customer for our revolutionary new hosted server platform, Converix. This marks the latest chapter in our longstanding relationship with Saudia and, coupled with their exciting commitment for Astrova and a suite of our digital solutions, will help transform the passenger experience they deliver.”
