Shirdi: Shirdi Airport has officially begun night landing operations, with the first night flight, an IndiGo aircraft from Hyderabad, touching down at 9:21 PM on Gudi Padwa. This marks a significant development in enhancing accessibility to the major pilgrimage destination.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hailed the milestone, stating, “Night landing operations have started at Shirdi Airport on this auspicious occasion. The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) welcomed the passengers of the first night flight, making it a historic moment for Maharashtra’s aviation sector. This step will improve connectivity and ease travel for devotees of Shri Sai Baba.”

Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol also praised the launch, emphasizing that it would increase the number of visitors to Shirdi, boost industrial growth, and positively impact the local economy. “This is a key achievement for Shirdi, Ahilyanagar, and surrounding regions,” he added.

In 2022, DGCA officials conducted an inspection at Shirdi Airport to evaluate its readiness for night landings. After a comprehensive assessment, the regulatory body granted approval in early 2023.

Shirdi Airport serves a high volume of travelers, with over 15 daily flights connecting it to major cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, Tirupati, Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Chennai.

With night landing services now in operation, Shirdi Airport is set to enhance its role as a crucial travel hub, facilitating smoother journeys for pilgrims and boosting economic growth in the region.
