IDEX and NAVDEX 2023 signs off with 5.8b worth of total deals

The International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2023 is the largest international Defense Exhibition and Conference in the Middle East that gained interest from an increasing number of international decision-makers from within the defence industry, governments, armed forces and military personnel.

IDEX’s Principal Partner, Tawazun Council signed 11 contracts totalling AED 5.8 billion with domestic and foreign companies, including 9 deals worth AED 5.7 billion for the Ministry of Defense and 2 deals worth AED 134 million for the Abu Dhabi Police.

As a result, the total value of the 34 deals that have been revealed so far is AED 18.44 billion.

Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi and Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi, the Tawazun Council’s official spokesmen, made the news during the press conference.

“The total number of contracts Tawazun Council signed on behalf of the Ministry,” according to Zayed Al Meraikhi.

Zayed Al Meraikhi said: “The total number of contracts Tawazun Council signed on behalf of the Ministry of Defense were 9 contracts with a total value of AED 5.7 billion. They include 4 local companies, with a total value of AED 5.05 billion, while the number of contracts signed with international companies has reached 5 contracts with a total value of AED 694 million.

Earth, a division of Edge Group, received the largest contract—worth AED 4 billion—to construct a tactical data link network. A further agreement for the purchase of the Al Tariq system, worth AED 1 billion, was made with the company of Edge Group called Halcon.

International Diving Trading was given a contract for AED 28 million to support the boat workshop technically.

The International Golden Group, a deal for AED 27 million was agreed upon to buy scanning and monitoring equipment.

Two contracts with France’s Thales, one worth AED 176 million for technical support for the GM-200 radars and the other an AED 6 million contract for technical support and CMS training, were among the international contracts revealed today.

The other two agreements were for the purchase of mu-90 torpedoes and CANTO systems for anti-torpedoes from the French business Naval Group for AED 407 million.

Also, contracts for AED 68 million and AED 37 million for the development of an operation center and a proximity fuze, respectively, were inked with the Austrian business Frequentis AG and the US company Kaman, respectively.

Al Meraikhi stated: “We will continue to work alongside the Ministry of Defense, security agencies, and Abu Dhabi Police.”
