Doha: LundHalsey, a UK-based leader in air traffic control (ATC) console solutions, proudly announces the successful delivery of cutting-edge ATC consoles for the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA). This notable achievement led by Fusion Q Technology marks a key milestone in the exclusive partnership between the two companies.

The collaboration resulted in the delivery of 20 advanced ATC consoles for QCAA’s Air Traffic Control facility. This project highlights the mutual commitment of both companies to providing world-class aviation solutions that enhance operational efficiency and optimise performance.

The project began with an immersive virtual reality (VR) demonstration of the proposed ATC console design, giving QCAA officials an interactive preview.

After formal approval of the design, LundHalsey developed a fully operational prototype. QCAA’s team later visited LundHalsey’s headquarters in Aylesbury, UK, where their detailed review reaffirmed the design’s quality and functionality, exceeding expectations.

Key features of the consoles

The final ATC consoles are engineered to enhance both operational efficiency and controller performance. With an emphasis on ergonomics, the consoles are designed to provide air traffic controllers with comfort and ease of use during extended operations.

Key features include motorised equipment wedges, adjustable VCCS touchscreens, integrated loudspeakers for clear communication, and customisable task lighting, all aimed at maximising operator performance.

Additional highlights include motorised height-adjustable work surfaces supported by four heavy-duty actuators, providing robust ergonomic flexibility. Each console is also equipped with lockable, ventilated front panels for secure, efficient cooling of sensitive equipment, as well as easy access to equipment racks, VCCS plug-in panels, and integrated cable management for streamlined maintenance.

To further personalise the solution, each console features 3D gloss QCAA branding, reflecting the authority’s high standards while enhancing the working environment for air traffic controllers.

Mr. Ahmed Al-Eshaq, Director of the Air Navigation Department, remarked, “The project exceeded our expectations in both design and quality, with meticulous attention to detail throughout. Since installation, our air traffic controllers have experienced noticeable improvements in operational comfort and efficiency.”

Charles Evett, CEO of LundHalsey, added, “The successful delivery of this project is a testament to LundHalsey’s commitment to providing world-class solutions that enhance performance in mission-critical environments. We are proud to have exceeded the expectations of both QCAA and the broader aviation sector with this delivery.”

The installation of the consoles was completed in August 2024, marking a major step forward in enhancing the operational capabilities of the QCAA. LundHalsey and Fusion Q Technology remain dedicated to delivering exceptional, end-to-end solutions for mission-critical environments in Qatar and beyond.
