Airport Security Middle East to return in May at DWTC

Dubai: The 8th edition of Airport Security Middle East is set to take place from May 6 to 8, 2025, as part of the 24th Airport Show at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
The event will run under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.
Designed as a key co-located conference within the Airport Show, the three-day gathering will spotlight pressing security challenges, explore emerging threats, and assess the future needs of airport safety and security.
Bringing together airport industry leaders and key decision-makers, the event aims to foster forward-looking conversations around technological innovation and next-generation security infrastructure. It also presents extensive networking and business opportunities, especially for stakeholders from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
Over 120 exhibitors representing 20+ countries are expected to participate, including dedicated national pavilions from Germany and Italy. In addition, the show will host 150+ buyers from more than 30 nations.
According to data from Airports Council International (ACI), global investments in airport infrastructure are projected to reach $2.4 trillion by 2040. As of the third quarter of 2024, the total value of ongoing airport projects worldwide stood at $589.1 billion, with $75.5 billion allocated to the Middle East and Africa, and $34 billion to South Asia.
With the rapid digital transformation of the aviation sector, AI-driven technologies are playing a central role in enhancing airport security. Intelligent surveillance systems now leverage real-time video analysis, reduce false alarms, and enable rapid response capabilities.
Through the integration of computer vision, behavioral analytics, and threat detection algorithms, modern airport security systems are evolving to be more proactive and predictive.
Colonel Engineer Expert Marwan Mohammad Singel, Director of the Dubai Civil Aviation Security Center at Dubai Police, emphasized the critical role of technology in maintaining airport safety. “Our airports stay ahead by not only investing in top-tier security tech but also ensuring that our teams are highly trained to manage smooth and safe passenger flows,” he stated.
Dubai, recognized as one of only 50 cities worldwide with two international airports, successfully facilitated the travel of 92.3 million passengers in 2024. For the last decade, Dubai International (DXB) has consistently ranked as the world’s busiest hub for international passenger traffic.
